Premix is a Finnish technology leader in electrical conducting plastics and low-loss RF materials. The products are used e.g. as car radar lenses and for 5G antennas.

Preperm® Low-Loss Materials

The plastic materials of Preperm® exhibit lowest loss factors and constant dielectric parameters across a wide frequency range beyond 100 GHz. Another advantage is the low absorption of water (< 0,25 %) compared with materials based on PEI, PBT or PC.

Constant Relative Permittivity at Microwave Frequencies

The relative permittivity (dielectric constant) εr of Preperm®-materials shows very little variation at microwave and millimetre wave frequencies:

PREPERM® Radome Materials

The radome materials of Preperm® combine lowest loss factor up to millimetre waves with high impact strength and moldability which makes them ideal for car radar systems. Flame retardant versions are available (flammability V0 according to UL94). The loss factor tan δ at 79 GHz is below 0.003. This results in a reduction of the two-way loss of almost 2 dB compared with other materials, see graph:

PREPERM® PEEK RF-Materials for high Temperatures

The PEEK materials have melting temperatures higher than 280 °C which makes them ideal for high temperature applications.

PREPERM® flexible RF-Materials

The FLX materials have high elongation at break and typically 4 % elongation at yield. They are available with relative permittivity between 4 and 19.5

The low loss filaments are available with dielectric constants from 3 to 12. tan δ is typically 0.004. Water absorption is very low with maximum values between 0.3 and 0.5 %.
